pamphlets, court forms, manuals, and other similar publications for use
by the courts and the general public. These materials are created by the
Friend of the Court Bureau, Foster Care Review Board, Michigan Judicial
Institute, Office of Dispute Resolution, and other divisions of the State
Court Administrative Office as required by Michigan law and court rules
or as it deems advisable. Content covers general and specific information
about the judiciary, the courts, court procedures, and legal issues. Benchbooks and Other Resources Produced by the Michigan Judicial InstituteThe MJI publications team produces and revises trial court benchbooks as part of the MJI's mission to keep judges and court employees informed of the very latest developments in Michigan law and procedure. Trial court benchbooks are procedural manuals that serve as reference tools for trial court judges, court staff and trial attorneys. The benchbooks are written by MJI research attorneys and reviewed by advisory committees of judges, court administrators, court professional personnel and trial attorneys.Most of MJI's publications are available in pdf format for easy viewing, printing, or downloading from the Internet. as required by the Michigan Court Rules, statutes, and such other recommended
forms as it deems advisable. While certain statutes and court rules require
the State Court Administrator to approve forms for use in specific proceedings,
the use of SCAO Approved forms, when they exist, is rarely mandatory.
In addition to being provided on this site, SCAO Approved forms are printed
and distributed to the trial courts, legal printers, publishers, and software
companies and relevant state government departments. There is no copyright
on the SCAO Approved forms. Brochures and PamphletsSee Index of Brochures and PamphletsHandbooks and ManualsThe State Court Administrative Office publishes a number of procedural
manuals and handbooks either for use by the trial court personnel, for
specific individuals, or for a specific purpose. Publication of some of
these materials may be required by Michigan law or court rules for public
use; when this is the case, they are made available to the public through
this site or for purchase in printed form. ReportsThe State Court Administrative Office publishes a wide variety of reports
as required by Michigan law or court rules and as deemed appropriate. These
reports provide information about the outcome or status of various projects
associated with the courts; statistical and other information about trial court
operations and caseload; staffing in the courts; the need for improvements
in the operations, management, and facilities of the courts; special initiatives;
task forces and other specially appointed committees; and a host of other
subjects. Publication of some of these materials have been made available
through this site, some are available for purchase in printed form, and
some are no longer in print but originals have been maintained by the Office. |
